DEAON GRIFFIN-PRESSLEY (originally from Fort Lauderdale, Florida) is an Award Winning New York City based actor/playwright/singer. Off Broadway and regional theatre acting credits include: (TheatreSouth) "I Have A Dream" the Broadway Musical, Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in Orlando, Florida;  (Shakespeare & Company) Booth, Topdog/Underdog (Berkshire Theatre Award Winner for 'Best Production' & 'Best Ensemble'); Orlando, As You Like It; Ferdinand, The Tempest; Lorenzo, The Merchant Of Venice; (Actors’ Shakespeare Project)  Richmond/Hastings +8; Richard IIl (The Philadelphia Shakespeare Theatre) Orsino, Twelfth Night; (Hypokrit Theatre Company) Mercutio & Tybalt (rep), Romeo & Juliet; (American Globe Theatre) Banquo, Macbeth;. Original plays include: (Satan VS God, False Brotherhood Trilogy, The Tragedy At HOOD: 14542(Hoodsical),) A few of his plays have been directed by acclaimed theatre artist including Tony Award Winner, Ben Harney (dir. Satan Vs God) and have featured several Broadway actors including Jerome Preston Bates, J Nycole Ralph and Tony Nominated Shakespeare & Company Educator, Kevin Coleman. Other works have been directed by renowned stand-up comedian/actor Doug E Doug (featured on Jungle Fever, Cool Runnings & Cosby Show) His writing styles vary from 1st Century English, contemporary, iambic hood-pentameter, realistic urban, to Sci-fi fantasy.


Across the US, his plays have been produced with Woodie King Jr.'s New Federal Theatre (Playwright in Residence), Rhymes Over Beats (Artist in Residence), The Lark, The Fringe Festival NYC, Manhattan Repertory Theatre Festival, Thespis NY Theater Festival, The National Black Theatre in Harlem, Venus/Adonis Theater Festival (Satan Vs God, Nominated for “Best Play” & “Best Original Play”), DC Black Theater Festival, & The African Heritage Cultural Arts Center in Miami. He is an alumni of the Emerging Black Playwrights Group with the Liberation Theatre Company. Part 1 from his Trilogy,  False Brotherhood/His Profile Reflected God was included as a Semi-Finalist for The Playwrights Realm Writing Fellows and as a Finalist for 2050 New York Theatre Workshop Playwrighting program. 


Deaon has studied theatre at the British American Drama Academy at Oxford University, with a full scholarship from the English Speaking Union. He is a company member with Shakespeare & Company has written over 200 sonnets being shared on IG @ dgppoetry.
